Born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, Chester’s love of the guitar began at age eight. His first guitar was purchased by his mother with grocery store trading stamps. By the age of 16, he began to play with some of the local young musicians, and more often than not, could be found in the jazz, blues, and R&B clubs around Jackson.
Chester attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA for a short time before he went on to earn a Bachelor of Music, with a classical guitar emphasis, from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Since moving to Denver, Colorado, Chester has written and released four CD’s - Schizophrenia of Love and Pearl (released under the pseudonym “SansVisaj”); and two EP’s entitled Let’s Drive and Open The Door (released under the pseudonym “Groove Butta” on the BRM label in London, England).
As a producer and engineer, Chester has recorded, mixed, produced music for R&B, Rock, Country, and Americana acts. He also played guitar and arranged selections on Hazel Miller’s CD entitled I’m Still Looking.
As a performing musician, he has successfully worked with popular Denver acts, such as Rich Relations, Leslie Drayton, Hazel Miller, Al-Tune, Moment’s Notice, Buckner Funken’ Jazz, Sheryl Renee, Hip Pocket Denver, Judge Roughneck and Byron Shaw (BSP) just to name a few.
